Sugar Mountain:
The Village of Sugar Mountain has tennis on six fast-dry clay courts. Weather permitting, the courts are open daily from May through mid-October.
Throughout the season, they have inter-club matches with other area clubs, the Mountain Cup Tournament, the Sugar Mountain Championships, and the popular “pot luck” cookouts. If you would like help in finding matches, you can contact the pro shop. They keep a roster of active players of all abilities as well as upcoming tennis events in the high country.
The Village of Sugar Mountain also has a “full-service” pro shop offering racket demo rentals and racket re-stringing services, please contact the tennis director, Leigh Morrison, at the tennis pro shop at (828) 898-6746 for complete information on the tennis program.

Beech Mountain Club:
If you are staying at one of our properties on Beech Mountain that has Beech Mountain Club privileges, tennis is available to you for a fee. Guest reservations can be made two days in advance. Clinics and private lessons are also available. Stringing and merchandise is available in the tennis pro shop.
With 10 Har-Tru composition clay courts, Beech Mountain Club offers the premier tennis facilities in the high country. Lessons and clinics for all ages are offered with additional opportunity to demonstrate your skills during inter-club competition.
With an active tennis community, members have an opportunity to participate in a lottery system for court reservations filling the courts daily. Afternoons afford their teaching professionals an opportunity to grow their program with youth clinics, tennis camps and individual lessons.

Buckeye Lake Recreation Area (Beech Mountain):
The 22,500 square foot Buckeye Recreation Center offers recreational opportunities for all ages. The outdoor tennis courts are free to the public. There is a fee for use of the new indoor courts. There is an outdoor playground, softball diamond and basketball courts that are free to the public. Their new facility has an indoor gym, fitness, tennis, dining room and a meeting area. There is a fee for use of all indoor facilities.
Buckeye Recreation Center also offers Summer Tennis Camps (RDU Tennis):

Lees-McRae College Courts (at Williams Gym in Banner Elk):
Lees-McRae College’s outdoor tennis courts are free to the public, but the tennis team has priority at all times. The courts are available from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; however, no reservation system is in place at this time. You can call Paul Goode, Head Tennis Coach, at 828-898-2547 for more information and availability. Lessons/Clinics and Tournaments are also offered.
Junior Tennis Team:
The Watauga County Parks and Recreation Junior Tennis Team program in Boone is for children ages 7 to 15 and begins the week of June 1 or the day after school is out. Four levels of lessons are offered: true beginner (first year player), beginner (second/third year player), intermediate and advanced. This program allows children to advance at their own pace. Practices will be held at the Recreation Complex tennis courts every Monday, Wednesday and Friday through July 31. In addition to lessons and practices, tennis matches for advanced players are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the season. Registration will continue to be accepted throughout the Junior Tennis Team Season. The registration fee is $80 per child.
